To un-install the Whopla web browser go to your Control panel - Programs and find the Whopla web browser and click un-install. The application will be un-installed, if you installed Whopla with Lockdown mode then you may need to restart your machine after the un-install process has completed.
Each time a child tries to visit a website, Whopla will check the domain against a blacklist of words and blocked domains. While the initial check is in progress, the page is scanned for any unwanted content, words or phrases and if any are discovered, then the page is blocked and the child is taken back to the previous safe website.
Whopla uses a sophisticated set of bespoke filters that pick up on terms indicative of grooming and bullying. If such terms are picked up, an emailed report is sent to parents showing the phrase causing the alert, the time of the incident and the address of the offending website.
Whopla has a lockdown feature, which will stretch the Whopla web browser to fit the entire screen, by doing this the user cannot navigate to alternate applications, to close the Whopla browser while in lockdown mode, the parent/guardian has to enter in a password to close the application.
While the user is in lockdown mode they will not have the ability to launch Task Manager thus preventing them from closing off the Whopla web browser. The user will also not have the ability to close the application using Windows short cut keys ie alt+f4. The full screen feature of lockdown mode can be switched off via the control panel.
Who would benefit from using the Lockdown feature?
If you would like that extra sense of security then Lockdown mode is for you. With lockdown mode running the user of the pc/laptop the user will not have the ability to navigate to different browsers.
There are many institutions who would find the lockdown feature useful such as schools, internet cafés, airport lounges, hotel lobbies and anywhere that you would require a PC with safe internet access for public use.
Can I enable the Task Manager after install for the newly created Whopla user?
Yes. Please contact our support team and contact@surflogic.com and request the “Bring back task manager file” and we will send you the file with instructions required to bring back the task manager.
